Hi.

Welcome to my blog. A place where I write first and regret later. Documenting my adventures in travel, style, and anything else.

I don't know about you, but soon I'm not 22

I don't know about you, but soon I'm not 22

On the eve of my twenty third birthday, I decided it was only right to reflect on the year I have had. So, while 500 Days of Summer plays on the television, and I sit amidst the half full boxes that contain the remains of my dinner… I bring you:

Twenty Two things I have learnt about myself from being alive for Twenty Two years.

  1. Friends are everywhere. Seriously the world is full of them. You just have to know where to look, and to keep your head out of your own ass long enough to meet them.
  2. You don’t have to stay in a situation that makes you unhappy or uncomfortable. There is always a way out no matter how bleak a situation might seem. Where there is a will there is a way as they say. But seriously: relationships, jobs, uncomfortable bus situations, you have the power to make your own choices and change your stars.
  3. A Knights Tale is a classic film and I will never tire of watching it.
  4. Drunken Christmas karaoke is equally as enjoyable by yourself in your apartment with the audience of two concerned cats, as it is with friends.
  5. You can live by yourself, almost effectively!
  6. Everyone is too caught up thinking about themselves to think about you, so let your freak flag fly.
  7. It is ok to be single. In fact it is quite enjoyable.
  8. It is not ok to joke (more then once) about being in an open relationship with Netflix, because you got a Shomi subscription.
  9. You do not know the difference between Gremlins and Cats.
  10. But good try.
  11. You like autobiographies now. Go figure.
  12. You are a feminist. You are a voting member of society, and have actual thoughts and opinions about things, that have the potential to shape the world in a positive way.
  13. Health is kind of important to you, even though cardio was created by Satan, and Hell is surely a 24 hour gym.
  14. Green Tea will still be disgusting no matter how many times you try it.
  15. You can mostly grocery shop unsupervised.
  16. It’s ok to be scared. It’s also ok to be sad. And it is ok to feel those feelings. Everyone has their own shit going on, and anyone worth your time will not fault you for having emotions, you are not a robot… even though that would be awesome.
  17. You are allowed to not know what you want to do with your life, and you are allowed to take time to figure it out.
  18. Yes, your boobs do look great in that top.
  19. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is probably never going to run through an IKEA with you, and then have a Hall & Oats dance number after a night of passionate love making. But there is always hope.
  20. The people who matter the most will always be there for you.
  21. Music can heal more wounds then time ever could.
  22. Twenty Two things are a lot to list when you have to sit down and think about them.

Here's to learning twenty three more things next year and to growing old, but never growing up.
